veehen (“we”, “us”) runs veehen.com, where people talk to strangers nearby in two-minute, audio-only calls. This page explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and your choices. veehen is for people 18 and over.
Calls are never recorded
Audio goes directly between the two phones in a call. We never record, store or listen to it. When two phones can’t connect directly, the audio passes through an encrypted relay run by Cloudflare, which forwards it without storing it.
What we collect
- Your account: the username you choose, your country, your time zone (so the nightly window opens at 8 PM where you are), and your gender once you answer it (used only for the “Pair me with” choice, never shown to anyone).
- Your postal code: we keep only its area (for example “L5B” of “L5B 4M1”) to find people within 30 km. The full code is stored only as a one-way hash so you can sign in with it; we can’t read it back.
- Calls: who talked to whom, when, for how long, how it ended, and the distance between your areas. No audio.
- Your answers during calls (for example “Would you talk to them again?”). These are anonymous: they count toward the other person’s score only once three people have rated them, and nobody sees who said what.
- Reports you make or that are made about you, so we can keep people safe.
- Points and ranks: a record of the points you earn (time in the window, calls, streaks, invites) and lose (reports).
- Invites: if you joined with someone’s link, we record who invited you.
- Your agreement: when you confirmed you’re 18 or older and which version of our Terms you accepted.
- If you advertise: your email address (to send codes, receipts and ad reports), your ads and their images, and your purchases. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
- While you’re connected: that you’re online, searching or in a call, so nearby people appear on the radar as anonymous dots placed roughly by area, never by exact location.
Cookies and similar storage
- Sign-in cookie: keeps you signed in. It’s necessary for veehen to work.
- On your device: we remember your country and your “Pair me with” choice in your browser’s storage. They never leave your device until you use them.
- Visitor analytics: Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits, pages, referrers and device types without cookies and without tracking you across sites.
- Advertising: veehen may show ads from Google. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can turn off personalised ads in Google’s Ad Settings, and learn more at how Google uses data from sites that use its services and aboutads.info. Where the law requires it (for example in the EU and UK), we ask for your consent before these cookies are used.
How we use it
- To run veehen: sign you in, open the window at the right time, and pair you with people nearby who fit your choice.
- To keep it safe: act on reports, stop people who were reported from being paired with you again, and remove accounts that break our rules.
- To show scores, ranks and how many people have joined in your area.
- To run local ads: show them within 30 km, count views and clicks, and send advertisers their results. Advertisers see totals, never who clicked.
- To understand how veehen is used, in totals, and to improve it.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only with the services that run veehen for us, and only what each one needs:
- Railway hosts our servers and database.
- Cloudflare stores ad images, relays call audio when needed, and provides visitor analytics.
- Stripe processes ad payments.
- Resend sends our emails to advertisers.
- OpenStreetMap and Zippopotam turn a postal code area into a map location. They receive the area, not who you are.
- Google serves ads, where shown, and helps us appear in search.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect someone’s safety.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and call history while your account exists. Sign-in sessions expire after 30 days. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account and the information tied to it, except what we must keep by law (for example payment records) or to deal with a report.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete your account. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, PIPEDA in Canada, or the CCPA in California) you may have further rights, such as objecting to how we use your information or complaining to a regulator. Email hello@veehen.com from any address and tell us your username; we may ask you to confirm it’s you by signing in.
Children
veehen is only for people 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe someone under 18 is using veehen, tell us and we’ll remove the account.
Where data is stored
Our servers are in the United States. If you use veehen from elsewhere, your information is transferred there and protected as this policy describes.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
